The Falken AZENIS FK510 has once again successfully positioned itself among the premium brands in the ultra-high-performance (UHP) segment in AUTO ZEITUNG's 2021 summer tyre test.
Ten summer profiles in a price range of 300-440 Euros were tested in the dimension 225/40R18 on the latest model of the SEAT Leon 1.5 eTSI. The Falken tyre scored particularly well in the wet braking category. During emergency braking from 100 km/h, the AZENIS FK510 needed only 42.8 metres to come to a standstill and was less than one metre behind the winner in this category.
The aquaplaning results were also impressive: at 70.6 km/h in 7 mm of standing water, the AZENIS FK510 achieved fourth place for longitudinal aquaplaning while a score of 96 per cent secured third place in the transverse aquaplaning category.
The editors attested the “strong performance” of the Falken tyre, and in particular its price-performance ratio, for which the tyre receives an extra recommendation.
In the overall ranking across all categories, the Falken AZENIS FK510 achieved 86 points and was only six points behind the test’s overall winner, thus securing a strong place in the top half of the table.
“We are very pleased with the result,” commented Andreas Giese, Senior Manager Corporate Planning and Product Planning at Falken Tyre Europe GmbH. “It is once again clear that our tyres meet all the demands that customers place on premium tyres, time and time again, and at prices that are in line with the market.”
The Falken AZENIS FK510 has been on the market since 2016 and is available in 96 dimensions. This spring, 13 more sizes will be added, and another two dimensions are in development. The AZENIS FK510SUV, a variant developed specifically for SUVs, will have size 215/50R 18 92W added to its range this spring, with four more new sizes for 2021 already available.
